  1. Welcome to MicroExcel's informaton services hosted by its Perfect Recall
  2. software.  Two services are provided; shareware and Internet Resources.
  3.  
  4. The MX Shareware database contains detailed product descriptions,
  5. references to published reviews and awards for over 1300 products.
  6. Since not all shareware is created equal, this database makes it
  7. possible to narrow your selection to only the best works.
  8.  
  9. The Internet Resource database provides access to Web page search
  10. engines and serves to store anything found on the Net; graphics,
  11. documents, copies of Web pages and all types of URL's. The resources
  12. database requires installation to your hard disk and Windows browser
  13. software.  You may tour it from the CD-ROM but not much is availale this
  14. way since it requires Windows.

  17.       -----Starting a database and accessing documentation-----

  19. The documentation for each service is a simple walk through. I know most
  20. people will not bother reading anything but in this case you miss most
  21. of what this program has to offer if the documentation is skipped.

  23. Perfect Recall is an information distribution system.  You will actually
  24. be running four copies of it all linked together.  The front end copy
  25. contains nothing but links to the other three: Shareware, Internet and
  26. Demo.  Each of these has its own documentation.

  28. Select "R" to start the front end copy of Perfect Recall then select one
  29. of the three information services offered.  Documentation can be
  30. accessed from inside each service by selecting "M" for MENU then
  31. selecting USE DOCUMENTATION.  This will launch the README program which
  32. is running now except it will load documents specific to the service you
  33. came from.  Selecting "H" will print a hard copy.  A hard copy should be
  34. on hand while working with the program.

  40. The installation program reinitializes databases as unregistered but
  41. preserves the previous owner's identification.  When the next buyer
  42. sends in their BUYER.REG file a $20.00 commission is paid out.  A
  43. limited multi-level marketing arrangement can make this very profitable
  44. for those that redistribute their registered copies.

  46. Perfect Recall is an information distribution vehicle.  Both the Net
  47. Resources and MX Shareware Databases are examples of this. There is no
  48. per unit charge at this time for such use.  Therefore, you may freely
  49. develop and distribute information using Perfect Recall as the host
  50. software.  Should end users go on to expand on your work and register
  51. the program, you will make a few dollars for your efforts.

  53. After registering your own copy of Perfect Recall, simply use the
  54. NEWDISK.EXE program to create a virgin copy.  Your reg ID will be
  55. embedded.  A completely new information database can then be developed
  56. for distribution although you will probably end up buying Perfect Recall
  57. a second time when 50 records is reached since it won't know you are a
  58. registered user.

  60. Your new information service need not contain a great deal of material.
  61. It could just be a great way of organizing some common type of work with
  62. a few examples just as the Net Resource database does.

  64. The Import\Export functions enable you to distribute additional material
  65. either for sale or as a means to push the user over the registration
  66. limit.

  68. There is another way to generate income.  Distribute an information
  69. database and withhold some of the files the database is supposed to
  70. access.  The prospective buyer can then purchase this extended
  71. information separately.

  73. Perfect Recall links copies of itself together to create a single front
  74. end for the end user.  The INSTALL.INI file allows any distributor to
  75. customize my install program. Your work will integrate into the buyer's
  76. own setup in a very professional manner.

  78. Perfect Recall can extend its file loading capabilities to any other
  79. application program, DOS or Windows even if the target application can
  80. not normally load files upon launching.  Therefore, information systems
  81. may be developed for all types of work.
